October is the start of your fourth quarter for the year. It’s your opportunity to make it your best fourth quarter ever. To help you plan for that, today I’m sharing several ideas with you. Ideas that when implemented will keep things fresh and fun in your office. More importantly, they will exceed your patients and potential patients expectations which will allow you to focus on doing what you do best, helping your patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles. Why? Because exceeding your patients expectations will help keep them loyal to your office.
Here are some fun ideas for October – I know a lot of offices are focusing on Candy Buy Back events & Breast Cancer Awareness so I will share some ideas for those events and some other ideas just in case you’re looking for something a little extra to exceed patient expectations. (some of the ideas can simply be used for Facebook/Twitter/Blog/Instagram Posts. )
Breast Cancer Awareness Month ~
Work together as a team to decide how you will promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here are a few areas to consider…
- Raise Awareness, How?
- Collect Donations for a charity, which foundation/charity will the donations go to?
- Office Decorations, What?
- Social Media Sites – Use to raise awareness, discuss dental health tips, share office happenings and contest details, etc.
- Production & Product Sales – (Portion of sales will be donated to… )
- Give-aways – (ex: pink lip balm, little pumpkins, see more gift ideas here)
- Special in office Event (ex: Pink Power Day)

Or you can do this,
- Team up w/local school(s) and set up collection bins in each classroom where the kids can bring in their candy and the classroom with the most candy wins a gift card or get a local pizzeria to donate pizza for a classroom pizza party for the winning classroom.

Apple Month ~ See Apple Month – Dental Marketing Ideas
National Chili Month ~ Warm up Wednesdays! Every Wednesday, have a crock pot full of chili for your patients to enjoy. Be sure to include all the yummy toppings and recipe cards.
National Dental Hygiene Month ~ Great time to ask for referrals and to promote sales of electric toothbrushes, home-care tools, adult fluoride and even sealants. If you have Gift Of Health Certificates use them when talking about Dental Hygiene Month & asking for referrals.
National Orthodontic Health Month ~ Use this as an opportunity to promote Invisalign. This time of year people are thinking about gift ideas and want to get their smile camera-ready for the holiday parties.
National Book Month ~ Host a book drive for the local library, schools or families in need.
National Massage Therapy Week: 23-29 – Team up with a local massage therapist for some cross-marketing. Have them donate a massage gift certificate that your patients can enter in a drawing to win.
World Smile Day: 7 ~ Dental Health Education Opportunity for your Social Media & Blog Posts. Also, just to show off pictures of smiles.
National Face Your Fears Day: 11 ~ Opportunity to share what you do to help make dental visits more comfortable for the fearful patient.
National Chocolate Day: 28 ~ Chocolate gift for your patients. See Patient Appreciation Gift Ideas
