I am the Treatment Coordinator in our office.
I have been with Dr. Rule for 16.5 years, with over 35 years total in the dental field (23 years as a chairside assistant). The difficulty in keeping the schedule filled & productive have not been very different over the years. It currently seems to be driven by ability to be away from work & Flex Spending (out of pocket cost) for the patients. Of course if the value is not there or understanding of the time reserved for the patient with the doctor, patients will cancel because they have something they would rather do. Our office has been a fee for service, out of network office since 2001 with a strong core of loyal patients. We are always looking for new patients and in recent years it has been difficult to keep the numbers up.
